La cantidad de baterías de litio que llevamos va en aumento. Son una maravilla que nos permite almacenar electricidad y nos da una libertad espectacular. Hasta que ser recalientan, arden, y después explotan.
Y eso ya no es tan divertido.
En este instante, a bordo del A320, dispongo de dos tabletas en el avión y una más de backup, dos iPad de los pilotos, mi tablet personal y la del comandante, nuestros teléfonos móviles, auriculares inalámbricos, nuestros relojes digitales… y voy a parar de contar.
Como ves, una cantidad importante de baterías de litio, sin contar todas las de los pasajeros en sus respectivos móviles, tablets o portátiles.
Por todo ello, el riesgo de recalentarse, y de tener algún problema a bordo, aumenta exponencialmente. Por eso se ha requerido a las tripulaciones una formación específica para afrontar las posibles emergencias derivadas de las baterías de litio.
Cuidado con las baterías de litio en la avioneta
Probablemente en un avión de aerolíneas llevamos un mayor número de baterías de lítio, pero no por ello el peligro es diferente. Puesto que en las avionetas suele alcanzarse mayores temperaturas en verano.
En caso de tener una sobretemperatura, humo o fuego en alguno de estos dispositivos, trata de deshacerte de él si te es posible. Si no es así, trata de combatirlo utilizando el extintor o agua, evitando siempre líquidos con alcohol o inflamables.
Recuerda, que en cualquier momento podría producirse una explosión, y debes estar preparado para ello. Algo nada agradable si te pilla volando.
